Product specifications
100 ml bottle with dosage-plug, containing 2,000 predatory mites
500 ml bottle, containing 10,000 predatory mites
Each bottle contains predatory mites mixed with wood-chips

When to use Spidex?

Use Spidex for biological pest control of two spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae). Spidex works well on all the life cycle stages of the two-spotted spider mite but prefers younger stages most. Use Spidex preventatively and at the first sign of pest presence.

How does Spidex work?

Phytoseiulus persimilis feeds on all stages of spider mites, but has a preference for eggs. The predatory mites pierce the eggs and consume the contents. Adult Phytoseiulus persimilis also attack adult spider mites but the smaller development stages only feed on smaller prey stages. The larvae do not eat. The predatory mite can only survive on two spotted spider mites (Tetranychus spp.)

How to use Spidex?

  • Turn and shake the bottle gently before use

  • Push the centre of the cap to open the dosage hole

  • Sprinkle material on leaves or pour into Diboxes

  • Make sure the material remains on the introduction site for at least a few hours after introduction

  • It is possible to distribute Spidex mechanically by means of the (Mini)Airbug/Airobug

Dosage

The dosage of Spidex depends on climate, crop and spider mite density and should always be adjusted to the particular situation. Start introduction as soon as the first pest mites are detected in the crop. Introduction rates typically range from 2-50 per m2/release. Releases should be repeated once or twice at weekly intervals. Consult a Koppert advisor or a recognized distributor of Koppert products for advice on the best strategy for your situation.

Combined use

Can be combined with Neoseiulus californicus and Feltiella acarisuga.

Best working conditions for Spidex

Relative humidity should be above 75% and the temperature above 20°C/68°F for at least some hours of the day. Phytoseiulus persimilis does not enter diapause.
